In 2007, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A minor league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, began their 9th season of play at Coastal Federal Field, located across the street from Broadway at the Beach. Winner of the coveted Mills Cup Championship in 1999 and 2000, the team has turned out 46 major league players through the first seven years of franchise history. Notable former Pelicans include Rafael Furcal, Marcus Giles, Adam LaRoche, Jeff Francoeur, Brian McCann, and more.
